We stock a wide range of chunks tasty pies, pasties and sausage rolls. They have apparently scooped more awards across the pie, pork pie and pasty business than any other producer in the country and their steak pasty and sausage rolls were both awarded gold Great Taste Awards in 2013.

When we needed to find someone else to supply us with cakes, we approached Foxcombe Bakehouse in Okehampton (2013 Taste of the West Silver Medalists) because they have consistently proved to be one of our best sellers. Ide’s daily bread is produced by Ryder’s Homemade Bakery. We are happy to take orders so that you can just collect it at your leisure without worrying that we will have sold out of your favourite.

We make our bread in the traditional way without any additives or improvers. Most of the bread bought in supermarkets or large stores uses additives to cut production time. A loaf made using natural fermentation is said to be more easily digestible and will stay fresh longer.”

Freshly caught fish is delivered to the shop every Friday and we are happy to pre-order fish so that you can be sure that you are not disappointed if there is something special that you would like.

“Since 1992 we have been providing award winning fresh fish to the people of Devon (in 2012 we won Devon’s Fishmonger of the Year). Because we buy predominantly from the smaller day boats, which return daily to Brixham to land their catch, this not only ensures the quality of the fish we buy, it also keeps the food miles to a minimum. Whenever possible we have a policy of buying line-caught and sustainable local fish.”

“Kenniford Farm is an RSPCA Freedom foods approved free range pig farm situated in East Devon. For the last seventeen years we have been successfully rearing pigs, the last eleven of which has seen us branch out into our own range of award winning pork and bacon products. We butcher and package all of our products in our onsite butchery, giving full traceability. All our pigs live a free range existence allowed to come and go as they please from large barns out to the fields to root and wallow.”

Based on the edge of Exeter just half a mile from the shop, this farm provides us with beautiful rhubarb from March onwards and the really succulent and tasty strawberries and raspberries throughout the summer. Fresh supplies are delivered every day and, understandably, the scent of the strawberries proves irresistible to many of our customers (and the staff!)

“The hens decide what they do all day and where they go on the farm. They have plenty of room to roam around in — 70 acres in fact. When they do come in, the sheds are large and roomy and equipped with nest boxes where the hens lay their eggs. They share the fields with sheep, which makes the hens feel more secure out in the open, so they spend more time outside. We ensure that the hens are fed on a healthy diet containing natural ingredients such as wheat, soya and sunflower seed and grain from local farms. Once the hens are happy and healthy they get on with laying fantastic high quality eggs, high in protein and essential vitamins.”

We are selling more and more of Ladyilay’s  meringues as they are a delicious accompaniment to our ‘best selling’ Balls Farm strawberries.

Laydilay Organic Eggs is primarily an organic poultry farm and was started in April 2004 by Andy and Mandy Joh The farm is based on the southern flank of Dartmoor just south of Haytor rocks. We look after 1800 laying hens and rear our young stock
2 – 3 times a year. All our eggs are packed, graded and delivered by ourselves for our wholesale customers – independent shops, restaurants, and food producers.”
